ABOUT

I'm Roie Engel, born and raised in Israel, and living on a Kibbutz for a big part of my life. For the past 11 years I work in a software companies, and during my free time I seek to develop skills and enjoyment in different fields. I'm married and have three wonderful kids.

During the last two years I've been interested in photography as a way to express my art and creativity. I was always into art, but never, until now, walked in the path of photography. I see myself as a self-taught and self-educated person who loves to learn and willing to try and work hard for it.

Photography to me is a liberator when it comes to art and capturing life as they are. I try to see in every location and every set of scenes an opportunity, and therefore believe it can be a fertile ground for producing beautiful images. I put a lot of effort in understanding the behavior of light and its effect on my subject no matter if they are lifeforms, landscapes and still-life. I have been learning a lot just by looking at things around me and how they react to different kind of lights whether it's daytime or night.

Throughout my experience of photography, I've been learning so much about the technical side of it, and about the best way that my images can and will serve my artistic concepts and styles. When I'm holding that camera I feel alive, I feel challenged and I feel relief. My focus is mainly on landscapes, nature, macro, still-life and people… not necessarily portraits.

Wish you all the best,

Yours,

Roie Engel
